When brides are bent on recreating a period for their wedding theme, they forget that their bridesmaids suffer the brunt of their daydreaming. The poor bridesmaids end up wearing ridiculous, hideous, and itchy gowns or frocks. But why do some bridesmaids dresses make it to the horror list?
Brides, Please Get Real!
When brides plan a space or gold-themed wedding, expect the bridesmaids to mentally cringe at the idea of wearing gold spacesuits for their bridesmaids dresses. It’s mission impossible to dissuade the bride to change her mind, and it is only years after when the bride, on a nostalgic trip back to the wedding, realizes what a bomber she made with her bridesmaids.
If that is not enough, brides demand that her closest friends sign a covenant that from the time they were outfitted for the bridesmaids frocks, they won’t gain an inch, or they will spend for the alteration or modification of the bridesmaid gown before the wedding. Really, it is absurd to let your best friends go through the wringer when they are just being jolly bridesmaids!
Brides should be aware of the feelings of their bridesmaids, as the latter are not props for a wedding. Like the bride, they should also look their best to reflect the impeccable taste of the bride when choosing those bridesmaids dresses.
The Horror Roll
All brides want their weddings to be perfect, but some weddings become gross with bridesmaids strutting in dresses with puff sleeves, table cloth prints, lumpy shapes, lousy colors, slutty, doily look, and lousy vintage.
Wearing horrific colors that would be best worn in sleazy boudoirs, gowns adorned with ribbons from shoulders to the hems, dresses that are itchy and stiff, and gowns perfect for Christmas trees skirts are top candidates for the horror roll.
If you’re getting married and planning your wedding motif, talk to your bridesmaids and listen to their suggestions and make them as beautiful as you are on your wedding day. You’ll earn everybody’s admiration.
The fashion faux pas fall on the shoulders of the bridesmaid who have to brave the reputation of walking disasters. They have to brave the metallic fuchsia gowns and overdone

southern belle gowns. Everything that is bright, large, and tacky goes to the horror roll.
Avoiding the Horrific Award
To avoid the trap of falling on the worst bridesmaids dresses awards, go over the current wedding fashion catalogues. Or, you can go online and look at classic bridesmaids dresses, or those gowns showing the successful fusion of the modern and the classic.
Brides, heed these tips:
* Shop for the bridesmaids gowns months before the wedding to choose design, color, fabric, and accessories.
* Shop with your bridesmaids.
* Don’t let the bridesmaids wear identical gowns, as figures are not uniform. What would be flattering on one might look like the mining disaster on another.
* Choose accessories to flatter, not compete with or drown the gowns.
* The simpler the cut and the closer the design to the traditional look, the safer your choices.
When you look over the bridesmaid dresses on the racks, let each bridesmaid fit the gown and choose the gowns they like best. Modifications or alterations can be done on the dresses to recreate a specific wedding motif or theme with everybody adoring their gowns, thanks to you.
