Facebook is like a free website for your social relationships, and it can be lots of fun. One of the most common occasions for letting someone know you are thinking about them on Facebook is on their Birthday.
Here are some ideas for cool ways to wish someone a Happy Birthday on Facebook.
1: Send a Virtual Gift
Facebook offers all sorts of different ways to send little virtual gifts to your friend or loved one for their Birthday. There are all sorts of apps that let you send little gifts, usually image files with a message attached to them, for whoever you want. Most of these gifts are free, though some of the premium apps require a small investment.
You can also get creative. There are all sorts of little games on Facebook that people love to play, and you can send them gifts in those games. For example, sending someone a little something to help them out in Farmville or a similar game is a nice way to let your loved one know that you’re thinking of them on their special day.
2. Make a Free Website
Create a personal website for your friend, with pictures, music and video – and share it on Facebook. You can do this for free and in just a few minutes with a website builder like http://Wix.com. Choose a template or start from scratch, and add personal touches like a comments form so guests can leave messages inside the site. Advertising your creation on Facebook is a great way to show your other friends how much you care, and it will make your friend feel special. Plus, it’s free!
3. Create a Unique Birthday Ad
One of the cool things about Facebook as a personal website is the fact that you can make an ad on there that can be so specifically targeted that it only gets shown to one person. All you have to do is look over their profile and input all of their specific information into the ad system. You can then create a personal little ad for them wishing them a happy birthday.
This is an inexpensive, creative and unique way of sending them well wishes that no one else is going to think of- but which they’ll remember forever.
4. Tag a Birthday Note
Notes are almost like little blog posts that you can write up on your Facebook account without having to make a free website, and it can be really sweet and touching if you wrote a note about your friend, family member or loved one on their birthday.
Don’t worry too much about the topic of the note that you post on this web page- write about whatever you’d like! Tell a quick story about you and them, talk about all fond memories you two shared over the course of the last year, or just write a quick message of how much you appreciate them being in your life and why.
When you’re done, make sure you tag them in it so that you know they’ll read it! You can also tag other people in the note to get them to write their own note to your loved one for their birthday!
5. Send a Private Message
Sending someone a message is a great way to let them know that you’re thinking about them and that you wish them well. Sending a message is a little more private than any of these other messages, and as such it lets you get more in depth with your loved one about what they mean to you.
If it’s someone who you haven’t seen or talked to in a while, a message is also a great first step to getting back in touch. Wish them a happy birthday, let them know that you miss them, and then ask what they’ve been up to lately and how they’ve been. You never know, this one message could lead to rekindling a friendship that went cool from too much time or distance apart!
6. The Classic Wall Post
And of course, there is the old standby- you can write a quick ‘Happy Birthday!’ on their wall. This is the classic way of wishing someone well on Facebook, and it’s been around since the early days. While it’s understandable that you want to find a special way to wish them a great day and an even better year ahead, that doesn’t mean that people don’t still appreciate getting a notification that you’ve posted a kind message on their wall.
Remember- you don’t need to get elaborate and clever with this message, and you can still post something even if you used one of the other tips in this article. At the end of the day, there are few more public ways to show some love and support for your friend than on a Facebook wall.
